Band Ensembles
Mission Statement
The mission of the Hatboro-Horsham Band Program is to teach comprehensive musicianship through performance.
Comprehensive musicianship encompasses the knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the creative, technical, and expressive qualities of music as revealed through the application of musical skills.
Concert Band
The Hatboro-Horsham Concert Band is under the direction of Ms. Erica Westcott. The ensemble is scheduled for one 80-minute period every other day and is open to all students at Hatboro-Horsham High School with previous experience playing a band instrument/in a band ensemble. The Concert Band performs in various school concerts and community events throughout the year. Participation in the concert band also provides students with opportunities to travel and/or audition for advanced ensembles, such as the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association honor ensembles and the Montgomery County Honors Band.
Marching Unit
The Hatboro-Horsham Marching Unit (HHMU) is under the direction of Ms. Erica Westcott and assistant direction of Mr. Robert Molloy. The marching unit performs at various activities throughout the year, including all football games, parades and other community events, pep rallies, and competitions. “Band Camp” begins two weeks before school starts and is a mandatory activity. Members are expected to coordinate schedules so there are no conflicts with band camp.
