2/5/21 Transportation and Community Update
February 5, 2021
Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families:
Please note the following important announcements about transportation services, calendar changes, and meal distribution.
Transportation Temporarily Suspended February 8th – February 11th
Due to an increase in the number of transportation staff significantly affected by COVD-19 and currently quarantined, the Hatboro-Horsham School District will not be providing school bus or van services to students during the week of February 8th -11th. School buildings will remain open for those students scheduled for in-person instruction, however, families must transport their children to and from school. We understand the burden this has placed on our families and appreciate your support. Schools will continue to be flexible with potentially delayed arrival at school, as well as with students who cannot attend in-person, ensuring they can connect remotely.
The Bus Garage and all vehicles are being thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. The transportation department is expected to reopen on Tuesday, February 9th with minimal staff. If you currently receive transportation from Hatboro-Horsham and you are in critical need of transportation, please complete the form link below and submit it no later than 8:00 am on Monday, February 8, 2021. As our ability to meet the transportation needs of the community will be extremely limited next week, please complete this form only if there truly is no other way for your child to attend school. Following the submission of the form, you will be contacted by the Hatboro-Horsham School District only if your student can be transported before operations fully resume. The earliest transportation may be provided for students with no other alternative is Tuesday, February 9th.
Calendar Adjustment on Monday February 8th for Hybrid Students
As a reminder of a previous communication, Monday, February 8th will be a day for onsite in-person instruction for our cohort B students, who normally attend school onsite on Fridays. This cohort of students should plan to report onsite on Monday, February 8th . Our normal Friday routines will be in place on this date. However, district bus transportation will not be available on Monday. This change does not impact our Kindergarten students or our students in the Hatter Academy.
Meal distribution on Monday, February 8th will be at Keith Valley Middle School from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm and then again from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Planned Building Closures over President’s Day Weekend
Over next week’s President’s Day weekend, we will implement a planned closure of all our school buildings. The Montgomery County Office of Public Health has advised us that strategically closing our buildings will allow us to deep clean the buildings, prevent potential gatherings and/or spread, and allow us to reset the case counts and 14-day rolling window for all buildings. As we are scheduled to be closed for the holiday, we will use this time for closure and reset. There will be no staff and student activities onsite from Saturday, February 13th – Monday February 15th, including athletics, activities, and community group access. After President’s Day weekend, we will resume school and activities as scheduled on Tuesday, February 16th.
