10/9/20 Community Update

Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families,

Thank you for your prompt responses to the questionnaire that was sent home last week. We are busy organizing those responses to make decisions about the best ways to organize our staff to run the hybrid and remote models. Thank you as well for all the interest and feedback this process has generated. If you were unable to view the board meeting on Monday night where an overview of these models was presented, you can do so here. A copy of the presentation slides is available here.

On Wednesday, during a special action meeting, the Board of School Directors unanimously approved a revised timeline for returning our students to schools under the hybrid model:

  • Kindergarten (Full Return), Pre-K programs, and Before/After Care: October 26
  • Grades 1-6 (Hybrid) & Eastern Center (Hybrid): November 5
  • Grades 7-8 (Hybrid): November 9
  • Grades 9-12 (We will provide an update at the 10/19 board meeting)

We are excited to set dates for the work we have been doing to prepare for our students’ return to schools. We will continue to provide updates and information to our families in the weeks ahead about this exciting transition.

As we continue planning for the in-person return of our students, we are also planning for family childcare options. Students will be eligible for before and/or after care on the days their cohort is in school for in-person instruction. Registration paperwork is available on the district website under the Child Care pageWe ask that all interested parents complete the paperwork and submit it to the Child Care Department following the instructions in the registration packet. The childcare program will be following all district health and safety protocols to ensure your child’s safety. Additional guidelines and procedures will be sent to families who register for the program.

A reminder to our families that the Hatboro-Horsham School District provides free breakfast and lunch to all school-aged members of the Hatboro-Horsham Community (ages 0-18 years old). HHSD enrolled students over the age of 18 may also take part. Click HERE for more Food Service details.

We continue to monitor public-health data and consult with public-health officials. Our reopening metrics have been tracked and updated weekly on the website available HERE. All plans for return will be assessed within the context of our public-health data. Therefore, we all must be vigilant in adhering to safety protocols.

Thank you,

Scott Eveslage, Ed.D.
