Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families, 

Thank you for a successful end to an unprecedented school year. We hope this finds you and your families easing back into normalcy and finding ways to enjoy summer. This will be a busy summer for us as we plan for September. We are launching a new survey today to help us with that planning, please review the information below carefully. 

Thanks to the many families and staff who took part in our recent Home Learning Survey. In addition to that valuable feedback, it is important for us to hear from our families and staff regarding their needs and concerns about reopening schools in September. Please consider taking some time to participate in a new survey, our Fall 2020 Scenario Planning Survey. This survey can be taken by parents/guardians of students, students in grades 6-12, and HHSD staff. Your input and feedback now are critical to successfully reopening schools. Please take a few minutes to help us understand your thoughts and concerns as we move forward. This anonymous survey is being administered by Hanover Research. 

K-12 Fall 2020 Scenario Planning Survey Links 

Although school has ended, the Hatboro-Horsham School District will continue to offer free meals for pick up through the summer months. Meals will be offered on Monday and Thursday at Keith Valley Middle School between 11am-1pm. Multiple days’ worth of meals will be provided. Beginning Tuesday, July 7th meal service will move to Hallowell Elementary, 501 W. Moreland Ave., Horsham. Signs will be in place to provide direction and district staff members will be visible distributing meals. Meals are provided to all school-age members of the Hatboro-Horsham community who are under 18 years old. HHSD-enrolled students over the age of 18 may also participate. For questions regarding Hatboro-Horsham District food service, please email Jessica Oldsey, joldsey@hatboro-horsham.org, 215-420-5973. 

Families taking part in our Extended School Year program, please take note of the dates and times for device pick up. All device pick-ups will take place at the high school on Monday June 22 from 9:00 – 11:30 am and 12:30 – 3:00pm, and on Tuesday June 23 from 1:00 – 3:30 pm and 4:30 – 7:30 pm. 

Families looking for ways to keep children engaged in learning this summer, check out our Curriculum Learning and Enrichment Resources page at https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Page/1716. The enrichment resources offered during home learning are still there, and we have added a few additional resources for summer, including reading recommendations for elementary students, typing software for students in grades 3-7, STEM challenges, a link to the Jarrett Nature Center page which has an abundance of outdoor learning ideas, and program opportunities from a few local organizations. We will continue to update this list periodically. 

In the wake of recent tragedies and social unrest caused by systemic racism and social injustices in our country, we know that many of our students, families, and staff are experiencing trauma related to racial inequality. We have collected resources that can help you to talk with your children about race, as well as support children and families who are experiencing trauma because of racism. These resources can be found at https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Page/1757. Also, this evening, the International Literacy Association is sponsoring an online Town Hall for parents and teachers on How to Raise and Teach Anti-Racist Kids. Streaming live at 7 p.m. EST on Facebook Live @International Literacy Association and Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89619854060 

The PowerSchool Parent Portal will remain open until July 7th and then close for summer maintenance. Please save a copy of your child’s report cards before this date. If you need a copy after this date, please contact your child’s building secretary or email  appsvcs@hatboro-horsham.org . We expect the Parent Portal will re-open on September 1st. Canvas will remain open for the summer with limited access to courses. We encourage all students to visit the library pages in Canvas or on our website https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=460. 

We have put our student registration and withdrawal processes online. For returning families with students already attending schools in Hatboro-Horsham, there is no need to complete registration. This is only for families new to the school district, new to Hatboro-Horsham schools, or new kindergarten students. Student registration can be done online. Please encourage new neighbors to enroll students new to the district. In addition to new enrollments, we know there may be families in our community withdrawing from the school district. If you know you will be withdrawing students, please complete the online forms promptly so we can coordinate with you the return of any school district property. Our student withdraw forms can be accessed from the “families” menu on our homepage, or accessed directly through this link: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/domain/826 

We have reopened a few facilities for community use, including the stadium track and tennis courts at Hatboro-Horsham High School and the track at Keith Valley Middle School. Please continue to observe safety and social distancing recommendations during use. ALL other HHSD facilities, including schools, district buildings, athletic fields, playgrounds, and properties remain closed until further notice.
