06/10/2020 Community Update

June 10, 2020

Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families,

We hope our community enjoyed senior commencement on Monday! Congratulations again to all our seniors and their families. Many thanks to HHTV, who worked tirelessly to turn hundreds of video clips into a seamless commencement program for our community, and our staff and administrators at the high school who orchestrated commencement for our seniors and families over several daysIf you were unable to view the commencement on Monday, it can be viewed anytime on our district Youtube channel: HHSD YOUTUBE CHANNELThe event will also be rebroadcast this evening at 6:30 on Comcast channel 28 and Verizon channel 33.

A final reminder about our online survey, which closes June 12: Our past several months was marked by a shift to home learning, delivered online. To fully understand how our community, staff, students, and parents are getting along in these unprecedented times, we are very interested in hearing from you about your experiences with home learning. HHSD has partnered with Hanover Research, an independent research firm, to design a short Home Learning Survey that will help us assess the impact distance learning has had on students, families, and staff. This information will also help inform our planning for reopening schools in the fall. The survey is completely anonymous and should take about 10 minutes for you to complete. We thank you for your feedback.

The Hatboro-Horsham School District provides free breakfast and lunch to all school-aged members of the Hatboro-Horsham Community (ages 0-18 years old). HHSD-enrolled students over the age of 18 may also participate. This program is made possible through federal funding, and it is no longer necessary for families to be registered for the free and reduced cost lunch program to have their children take part. We offer a grab-and-go drive through service at Keith Valley Middle School on Mondays (3 days’ worth of meals) and Thursdays (2 days’ worth of meals) between 11am-1pm. The meals are being served in the bus loop around the side of the building. Please do not get out of your car, our staff will put the meals directly in your vehicle. If you have any questions or transportation issues, please contact Jessica Oldsey at joldsey@hatboro-horsham.org .

An additional food resource is available to families through the Montco Anti-Hunger Network. They will be having a food distribution on Thursdays at various locations in the weeks ahead. You do not need to be a part of any qualifying program to participate, it is first come first served. While this opportunity overlaps with our own food service, we want to help our families in need be aware of all options. For more information, please visit the HHSD covid-19 food services information page: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Page/1669 . Families that qualified for the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program, PDE has provided a link that you can use to submit questions about the program and access other information about P-EBT:  https://www.emergencymealsurvey.com/PA

We have put our student registration and withdrawal processes online. For returning families with students already attending schools in Hatboro-Horsham, there is no need to complete registration. This is only for families new to the school district, new to Hatboro-Horsham schools, or new kindergarten students. Student registration can be done online. Please encourage new neighbors to enroll students new to the district. Visit the registration page on our website for information about how to register: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/registration

In addition to new enrollments, we know there may be families in our community withdrawing from the school district. If you know you will be withdrawing students, please complete the online forms promptly so we can coordinate with you the return of any school district property. Our student withdraw forms can be accessed from the “families” menu on our homepage, or accessed directly through this link: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/domain/826

As we approach the end of the school year for students and staff, this will be the last week we will make these regular communications to our community. There will certainly be things to communicate in the summer as we receive further information from state and local authorities regarding the guidelines for reopening our facilities. Please note that after June 12, district-wide community updates like this one will be less frequent and sent on an as-needed basis.

Finally, we remind you to please help to keep our community safe by remembering that under the current Montgomery County reopening status of “yellow” ALL HHSD facilities, including schools, district buildings, athletic fields, stadiums, playgrounds, and properties remain closed until further noticeWhile we look forward to when we can reopen for students and for our entire community, we appreciate your staying clear of school district facilities at this time.

Thank You,
