05/20/2020 Community Update
May 20, 2020
Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families,
We hope this finds you well and healthy. There are several updates, resources, and reminders to share today.
Families using our food service on Mondays and Thursdays, please take note of the adjustments to our schedule for the Memorial Day holiday. We will NOT be serving meals on Memorial Day, Monday May 25. However, tomorrow Thursday May 21, three days’ worth of meals will be distributed to cover food for Monday. We will be open again on Tuesday May 26th and Thursday May 28 next week. We offer a grab-and-go drive through service at Keith Valley Middle School between 11am-1pm. Food service is available to all children aged 0-18, including currently enrolled HHSD students older than 18. At this time, families do not need to be enrolled in the free and reduced-cost lunch programs to participate.
HHSD Technology will be performing routine server maintenance on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 9:00 PM until 2:00 AM. Some systems may not be available during this time.
Each year, the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation offers the chance to honor a hero in the Hatboro-Horsham community. This year, because there are so many heroes among us, you can recognize a student, a graduate, a teacher, and the many frontline heroes in our community, such as healthcare providers, grocery store clerks, and first responders. Your hero will receive a printed keepsake with your personalized message, and new this year, you can record a short video with your message. All proceeds from Hatters Heroes will support an HHEF fund providing Wi-Fi services for HHSD students who lack internet access in their homes. Your gift will help ensure that all students, regardless of circumstance, can participate in remote learning opportunities. Learn more at www.hhef.org
We know our students and families are coping with the uncertainty of COVID-19. This can cause emotions of fear, anxiety, stress and more. While we navigate these uncertain times there are resources to help students and families cope. For resources and suggestions, please visit our emotional support link: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Page/1616. If your child is struggling, contact your child’s teacher or guidance counselor for ideas and supports. Additionally, please visit our SAP newsletter for links and information: SAP Newsletter
We have put our student registration and withdrawal processes online. For returning families with students already attending schools in Hatboro-Horsham, there is no need to complete registration. This is only for families new to the school district, new to Hatboro-Horsham schools, or new kindergarten students. Student registration can be done online. Please encourage new neighbors to enroll students new to the district. Visit the registration page on our website for information about how to register: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/registration
In addition to new enrollments, we know there may be families in our community withdrawing from the school district. If you know you will be withdrawing students, please complete the online forms promptly so we can coordinate with you the return of any school district property. Our student withdraw forms can be accessed from the “families” menu on our homepage, or accessed directly through this link: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/domain/826
We remind you to please help to keep our community safe by remembering that under the current directive issued by the governor to stay-at-home ALL HHSD facilities, including schools, district buildings, athletic fields, stadiums, playgrounds, and properties are closed indefinitely. Our schools will be closed to students through June 16, 2020, our last student day. For the rest of the 2019-20 academic year we will deliver planned instruction online to students in their homes. While we look forward to when we can reopen for students and for our entire community, we appreciate your staying home at this time. Our next update will be Friday, May 22.
