Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families,
With a month left in the school year we are making plans for families to return to school to retrieve student property and return school resources. These processes involve not just retrieval of personal belongings but can also involve athletic equipment and other belongings held in different areas or buildings. We are finishing plans to safely work through the end of the year. Your school principals will communicate plans and dates soon.
Families of seniors, information about commencement date, time, and logistics was sent to senior students on Monday through Naviance. This information is personalized to each student so please be sure to retrieve your specifics from Naviance. Cap and gown distribution begins this Friday. Students who need to apply for a working permit can do so virtually. Information is on the high school webpage and can be accessed through the “student” tab, or directly at https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/domain/825.
We are preparing our school buildings to be used as polling places for the June 2 primary elections. While the polls will be open, we want to remind our community that anyone who is concerned about voting onsite that Pennsylvania is offering a mail-in ballot system, available to any registered Pennsylvania voter. For students and others looking to register to vote, you must do so by May 18 and can find more information at voter registration. The technical issue that caused sporadic network access issues for some district users on Monday has been resolved and we are running normally. A reminder that our technical support help desk can be reached by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, through the web at https://hhsd.sherpadesk.com, or by phone 215-420-5600. Our technology staff take calls from 7:30-3:30, Monday through Friday, and will respond to support requests made at other times during those hours. A lot of technical issues can be resolved simply by powering down and restarting your device so please try this before reaching out to our technology team for support.
We have recently shared enrollment information in these updates. For returning families with students already attending schools in Hatboro-Horsham, there is no need to complete this process. This is only for families new to the school district, new to Hatboro-Horsham schools, or new kindergarten students. Student registration can be done online. Please encourage new neighbors to enroll students new to the district online now. Getting our student enrollment counts accurate as early as possible is critical to a smooth start to the school year for our new students. In addition to new enrollments, we know there may be families in our community looking to withdraw from the school district. There is an online form for this process too. If you know you will be withdrawing students, please complete these forms promptly so we can coordinate with you the return of any school district property. The Hatboro-Horsham School District provides free breakfast and lunch to all school-aged members of the Hatboro-Horsham Community (ages 0-18 years old). HHSD-enrolled students over the age of 18 may also participate. This program is made possible through federal funding, and it is no longer necessary for families to be registered for the free and reduced cost lunch program to have their children take part. We offer a grab-and-go drive through service at Keith Valley Middle School on Mondays (3 days’ worth of meals) and Thursdays (2 days’ worth of meals) between 11am-1pm. The meals are being served in the bus loop around the side of the building. Please do not get out of your car, our staff will put the meals directly in your vehicle. For those wondering what happened to yesterday’s communication, a reminder that we have scaled back the frequency of these community updates to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only unless there is information that needs sharing more promptly.
As nicer weather settles in, we remind you to please help to keep our community safe by remembering that under the current directive issued by the governor to stay-at-home ALL HHSD facilities, including schools, district buildings, athletic fields, stadiums, playgrounds, and properties are closed indefinitely. Our schools will be closed to students through June 16, 2020, our last student day. For the rest of the 2019-20 academic year we will deliver planned instruction online to students in their homes. While we look forward to when we can reopen for students and for our entire community, we appreciate your staying home at this time.
