Dear Hatboro-Horsham Families

In an effort to make our schools and all of our students and staff as safe as possible, the Hatboro-Horsham School District established an anonymous tip line several years ago. The HHSD Tip Line cancurrently be accessed by phone, 215-420-5100, or e-mail, Tips@Hatboro-Horsham.org. Our tip line is a way for stakeholders to report life safety issues so that we can effectively address them and make our schools and students as safe as possible. The HHSD Tip line will continue to accept life safety tips.

In 2018, the Pennsylvania General Assembly came to the realization that we knew years ago. With the help of stakeholders, an anonymous tip line is an effective way to help students in crisis who are thinking about harming themselves or others. As a result of this realization, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed Act 44 which, among other things, mandated the establishment of a statewide anonymous tip line. Pennsylvania is calling their tip line, Safe2Say Something (S2SS). Pennsylvania describes their Safe2Say Something Tip Line program as a “life-saving and life-changing school safety program that teaches students, educators, and administrators how: (1) to recognize the signs and signals of individuals who may be at risk of hurting themselves or others and (2) to anonymously report this information through the S2SS app, website or 24/7 Crisis center Hotline.” Every school in Pennsylvania is mandated to participate in this initiative.

The Safe2 Say Something Tip Line went live on January 14, 2019. Sometime between January 28, 2019 and February 4, 2019, all students at Keith Valley Middle School and the Hatboro-Horsham High School will view an hour long instructional training video prepared by Safe2Say Something. The video will instruct students on how to submit anonymous tips through the tip line. As part of this program, the video will also show students how to download the free Safe2Say Something mobile app. The Safe2Say Something initiative does not mandate that students download the app. Allowing your child to download the app will be your decision. The Pennsylvania General Assembly mandated this initiative for grades 5-12. Even though the program is designed for grade 5-12 students, an anonymous tip could be submitted about a K-4 student. Calling the Safe2Say Something Hotline would be the best way to submit this type of tip.

Submitting a life safety tip through the Safe2Say something system can also be done through the mobile app, Safe2Say something website, www.safe2saypa.org, and by telephone, 1-844-SAF2SAY.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
