HH Volunteer Information
Note: Due to limited capacity, the Hatboro Horsham School District is only excepting volunteers for specific events taking place throughout the end of the 2020-2021 school year and for specific events throughout the summer. We hope to resume acceptance of volunteer applications as we start to transition into the 2021-2022 school year. More information will be posted as we determine our capacity for volunteers.
HH VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Thank you for considering sharing your talents and time with the students and families of our district. Hatboro-Horsham School District welcomes and values volunteer participation in our schools. The following information will help you determine the type of clearances that you will need to volunteer in Hatboro-Horsham Schools.
Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Hatboro-Horsham School District requires the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering.
Volunteer Required Documents - IMPORTANT NOTE: Volunteer clearances are NOT acceptable for employment purposes.
Clearances: Links to the state’s websites are below. Please see the helpful hints next to each link. Clearances provided must be dated within one calendar year.
Volunteer Application - Please complete the HHSD Volunteer Application which includes demographic information to be kept on file at the Administration Building.
PA State Police Criminal Background Check - Click the control number to view your results. Click the "Certification Form" link in the center of the page to view, save and print your official certificate.
PA Child Abuse History Certification (electronic) - Click "Create Individual Account". The Keystone Key is a username you create. Follow the site's step-by-step instructions for creating a password. Be sure to keep a record of your Keystone Key and Password, as you will need them to access your results. You will receive an email from the site when your results are available, within 14 days of submission. Or PA Child Abuse History Clearance (paper form).
FBI Fingerprinting (2 Options)
If you have been a Pennsylvania resident for the past 10 consecutive years, you may submit the Volunteer Affirmation in place of fingerprinting.
If you have been a Pennsylvania resident fewer than 10 consecutive years, you must complete the fingerprinting process. Enroll at IdentoGo and make an appointment for digital fingerprinting at a location of your choice.
TB TEST: (Only required if you spend 10 hours or more a week with students)
Volunteer Coaches and Volunteers who spend 10 hours or more a week with students MUST submit results of a recent TB test prior to volunteering. TB tests are available through your doctor's office, a minute clinic or a local pharmacy. Once the TB test is administered the results are read in 48-72 hours.
How often will I need to renew my clearances?
You will need to update your clearances every 5 years.
What should I do once I receive my clearances?
Once you have obtained your clearances, please send them directly Volunteers@Hatboro-Horsham.org.
Once your clearances are received and approved, we will make you a volunteer badge based on a picture of your submission. Please submit a clear picture of your face. We suggest a picture from about shoulder length which shows your face clearly. Using a solid background behind you if possible. Pictures will be approved by the HR Department and if not appropriate you will be asked to submit a different picture. Below is an example:
Upon picking up your badge you will need to show your identification so please bring your driver’s license or a picture ID with you. You can pick up your badge at the administration building at 229 Meetinghouse RD Horsham.
Your volunteer badge is valid for 5 years. You will not be permitted to volunteer without it. If you lose your badge, contact email@example.com or 215-420-5000. Applicants will not be provided with an official copy of the FBI clearances.
You are required to notify the District’s Human Resources Department within seventy-two hours of any arrest or conviction of an offense that would constitute grounds for denying participation as a volunteer.
