HHSD Named Outstanding Visual Arts Community for 2025-2026
This recognition goes to districts where the visual arts are treated as essential. Our art educators are accomplished artists and skilled teachers whose judgment shapes what students learn. Our students are makers from their first day of kindergarten through graduation, building real skill and finding their own voice along the way. And our community sees that work: in our hallways, at our art show, in murals that change how a building feels, and in students who use what they know to give something back.
A strong visual arts program takes commitment from a lot of people. We are proud of what our art teachers and students have built together.
National Art Honor Society Students Work on Mural in Downtown Hatboro
About 15 National Art Honor Society students worked alongside Pennsylvania artist Sarah Fogg on the new York Road Bridge mural, a Hatboro Rotary Club project celebrating the borough's history and welcoming new residents. Students primed the concrete and painted base layers of the design, which spans 81 feet on each side of the bridge and features historic Hatboro landmarks and town symbols. Art teacher and department chair Leah Ellert noted that students collaborated on a project reaching well beyond the school while learning from a working muralist.

HHSD Art Show 2026 Recap
Thursday, May 7, 2026 | Hatboro-Horsham High School
Families filled the high school on May 7 for our annual K-12 Art Show. Artwork from every grade level lined the halls, student artists talked about their work, and visitors watched live art demonstrations throughout the evening. Families tried their hand at art activities, food trucks served dinner outside, and the bake sale kept everyone going until closing.
Thank you to our K-12 art teachers, who organized the event and prepared their students' work for display. The evening is a reflection of the work they do with our students all year long.
HHSD K-12 Art Transfer Goals
Long-term transfer goals describe the intended student competencies learned during their time engaged in the art curriculum during their years in the Hatboro-Horsham School District. Transfer goals seek to highlight effective uses of understanding, knowledge, and skill that transfer to independent performance in context. (McTighe, 2013)
Students will be able to independently use their learning to:
Engage in lifelong personal artistic investigations by applying skills and knowledge in the creation and/or performance of artistic works.
Generate empathy and awareness, and foster connections with ourselves, others, and the global community.
Make informed artistic decisions and demonstrate personal growth through critique, reflection, and application of the creative process.
Create engaging and purposeful artistic expressions in forms that vary in terms of media and style.
Communicate ideas, experiences, and stories through art.
Creative Careers Night
Creative Careers Night, which was held on Thursday, November 6th, brought together 12 professionals from across the creative industries for an engaging evening of connection and exploration. Students and families had the opportunity to hear from panelists representing a range of creative fields, then meet one-on-one with professionals to ask questions and learn about their career paths firsthand. The event drew approximately 90 attendees and reflected the district's commitment to expanding students' awareness of the many possibilities within the creative professions.

NAHS Student Murals
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is a volunteer-based club designed for students who are interested in art and using their talents to benefit our school and local community. We paint murals, face paint at local events, teaching after school art classes for kids, and much more!
