Black History Month is an annual acknowledgment of the contributions and achievements of African Americans to our country’s rich history. As a community, we take tremendous pride in believing strongly in our motto that “All are Welcome Here.” To affirm this commitment, it is important for all members of our community to feel respected, valued, and seen throughout our school district. We want to honor the history, contributions, and impact that African Americans have on the fabric of our country and community. The 2024 Black History Month celebration theme is African Americans and the Arts.
This theme explores how African Americans have used art to preserve history and community memory as well as empowerment.
