Did you know March came in like a lamb and went out like a lion? Well, Kindergarten does! We graphed and tallied the number of lion and lamb days March had! In March, we celebrated Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a visit from the Lorax. We read The Lorax, watched the movie and the Lorax came to visit the students and gave them a seed packet. We planted our seeds and kept a seed journal. Our marigolds grew over 3 inches before we transplanted them and took them home. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. The students arrived to a messy classroom that the leprechaun had visited the night before. We made leprechaun hats and went on a hunt for gold. We ended the day by graphing Lucky Charms! March was lots of fun!
In April, we have been busy learning new sight words, reading books and learning new word families! Our focus in math has been money, time and three dimensional shapes! We even brought in things to make a class Shape Museum! After reading The Velveteen Rabbit and discussing the story elements we had a pajama day. We wore our pj’s and brought our favorite stuffed animal to school. We got to watch The Velveteen Rabbit on TV. It was fun watching the stuffed rabbit come to life!
We also learned about Earth Day. We read stories and made a book. We learned about all the things we can recycle and ways to conserve energy at home.
