Learning Support students are scheduled into the learning support class during their directed study periods to get help with their schoolwork. This may involve completing homework, getting clarification/help with math problems and long term projects, proofreading/editing written assignments, using the computer to complete written assignments and do research, using reference materials in the room to complete assignments and projects, reading assigned material to the student, taking tests from a mainstreamed class in the learning support classroom, completing worksheets, and reviewing text book material, etc.
The focus is to insure the students' success within the regular education classroom as well as having the students feel confident and positive about their efforts. In addition, it is essential that students take an active role in their education and accepting responsibility for their academic success by making every effort to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner and to seek assistance from the appropriate person as needed. It is imperative that students take ownership in their educational careers.
