At a time when "high stakes" testing seems to be reducing course elective options in many high schools, it is even more important to ensure that students are given the opportunity to develop and practice creativity and critical thinking skills that will prepare them for the 21st century workforce.  The Fine Arts / Family and Consumer Sciences / Industrial Technology classes provide the most appropriate opportunity for students to use academic knowledge within the framework of "real-life experiences."  A life-long learner is a consumer, parent, partner, worker, creator, community participant, and citizen.  Courses taught  in the Gallery are directly linked to career pathways, creative endeavors, and life-cycle experiences that all young adults will inevitably face.
The .5 credit graduation requirement in the Creative Arts may be fulfilled with the satisfactory completion of any of the courses from the Art/FCS/Tech Ed course offerings and can be taken anytime during a student's high school career.  Please take note of the grade level and prerequisite offerings for each elective course.
