    This course is an introduction to the various aspects of the biological sciences including biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, evolution and the kingdoms of life.  Scientific literacy is developed through investigative and discovery labs, reading and writing assignments, use of online resources and class discussion. Technology is integrated as teachers show online animations / videos and students engage in Internet workshops and WebQuests.  Students also use various programs to design and produce creative products to demonstrate their learning.  A problem-based approach is used to grab student interest and increase motivation.  Real-world connections are prevalent.  In addition, differentiated instruction is used to target student readiness, learning styles and interest levels.  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to formulate testable questions, develop hypotheses, conduct research and experiments, and finally gather and analyze data to form conclusions
