  • Bird Feeder Challenge flyer

Students are invited to enter the bird feeder challenge hosted by the Horsham Environmental Advisory Board! Show us your ingenuity and creativity by designing a functional bird feeder using recycled or reused materials from around your home. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of three categories: most visually appealing, most creative use of materials, and best overall design

    How to enter:

    • After you've built your feeder, take photos of it!  We recommend including at least one photo of your bird feeder in action.
    • Submit your information and photos through this form: https://forms.gle/Ene2HQrxjyRa8QEB8
    • Entries due by 9pm Saturday, May 25, 2024.
    • The winners for the three prize categories will be decided by the Horsham Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) at their meeting on May 28, 2024. The winners will be contacted shortly afterward via the email or phone number provided with their entry form.
    • The winning feeders will be displayed at the EAB table at Horsham Day on June 1st (feeders will be returned to their owners the same day).

    1. All bird feeders must be made with reused or recycled household items, ideally materials that would otherwise be discarded.
    2. Bird feeders should be functional, i.e. able to hold bird food (seed, suet, berries, or nectar) and support the weight of the birds feeding.
    3. This challenge is for students and their families. Adults are welcome to assist with the project (especially if tools such as hot glue guns or sharp objects are involved). However, the student(s) should be involved in most of the design and assembly.
    4. No more than 4 submissions per family.
    5. If the number or variety of submissions necessitates it, prize categories may be broken down by age or grade. This will be determined by the Horsham EAB.
