    Spanish

    Class rules, expectations, and requirements:

    BEHAVIOR

Although the majority of foreign language students are very well-behaved and diligent, it is necessary to establish some class rules.  Detentions will be issued for the following: any distracting behavior that impedes my teaching, any display disrespect towards me or another student, lateness to class, coming unprepared for class, defacing textbooks or writing on desks, using improper language.  Parents will be notified of all detentions.

    GOALS

The goal of every Spanish class is to acquire the communication skills needed to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish.  A balance of learning activities will make provision for the systematic, orderly development of all four skills as well as variety and fun.

    HOMEWORK

My policy is that of the Hatboro-Horsham School District is that homework is extremely important in achieving academic success.  A reasonable amount of homework is assigned (45minutes, 4-5 times a week).  Homework may consist of a written assignment or studying for quizzes or tests.  Parents will be informed if students are remiss in not completing homework.

    GRADES

Quarter grades are a culmination of points based on homework, quizzes, compositions, and projects.  A comprehensive test will be given at the end of each chapter.  Brief quizzes will be given as feasible per chapter.  All quizzes, tests and projects will be announced at the beginning of each chapter.

All schedules also will be found on my web page.  At the end of each course there is a comprehensive final exam given and is required to be taken except for those seniors who are exempt.  See school for guidelines for those exemptions.
