• Have I been impacted? Tax Fraud Flow Chart

The School District of Hatboro-Horsham is aware that there are police and postal service investigations into check altering and theft from the exterior USPS post office box in Horsham, PA.  It is possible that school real estate taxes mailed from the exterior blue collection box at the Horsham Post Office (575 Horsham Rd) may have been intercepted and subject to fraud.  We strongly recommend the following steps immediately to determine if you have been victimized:

    • Determine if you placed your 2021-22 School Tax Bill in a USPS mailbox.
    • Contact the HHSD Tax Office at (215) 420-5023 or kpassana@hatboro-horsham.org to determine if your payment was received.
    • If it has not been received but you mailed your check:
      • Review your online banking or call your bank to determine if your tax payment was cashed.
      • Use the check image function or the assistance of bank personnel to determine if your check was cashed by someone other than HHSD.
      • Contact your bank to report any suspicious activity and to attempt to recover your funds.
      • Call Horsham Township Police (215-643-8284) to report the fraud.
    • Any taxpayer that contacts the HHSD Tax Office with proof of fraudulent activity (e.g., copy of altered check image from online banking software, letter from their bank, copy of a police report) will be permitted a grace period to pay their school taxes at the 2% discount.
    • If you have not yet paid your school taxes, we strongly advise you to use the secure tax payment drop boxes at the HHSD Administration Building, 229 Meetinghouse Road in Horsham. Receipts are mailed to residents within three (3) business days.
