    Device Distribution 2020-2021!


    Welcome back students, parents and staff for the 2020-2021 school year in the Hatboro-Horsham School District.


    This website will contain information for the 2020-2021 technology distribution for all grades K-12 at HHSD.


    General Announcements:

    Device distribution this year will be conducted prior to the opening of school to help improve our safety efforts, social distancing efforts and to ensure that all students have their device in their hands by the first day of school whenever possible.


    The 2020-2021 school year will start fully virtual so this method will be used to distribute all student devices.


    All device distribution will be done from the High School parking lot unless otherwise arranged with your school administrators.  Students do not need to be present.  You do not need to log into the device on-site as we have already logged in to cache credentials.  You will not need to exit your vehicle during the process.  Here is the High School address:

    Throughout this document when grade levels are referenced they refer to the grade of your student during the 2020-2021 School Year.  For example if your student was in 2nd grade last year and will be in 3rd grade for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, follow the instructions for 3rd grade students.


    There will be no technology fee for the 2020-2021 school year.  You do not need to bring any cash or checks to pick up your device.



    • Every family should register using TicketLeap for a date/time slot to pick up their device.
      1. Please do not arrive at the High School without submitting a ticket so we can keep on schedule and move as quickly as possible
      2. If you have more than one student in your household please register each student separately so we can prepare all the devices for the selected time
      3. Registration will close 2 days before the pickup date to ensure that we can have all devices ready for their designated time.

    • Print out your TicketLeap ticket(s) whenever possible, or save them to your phone to present when you arrive for pickup
    • Arrive at the High School during your selected date and time
    • Present your TicketLeap information to the on-site staff and stay in your vehicle
    • Your hardware will be retrieved and placed in the trunk of your vehicle along with information about your login credentials and directions on how to get started with some of our basic systems.
    • Ticketleap for September 1st, 2020 will close at 8:00 am on Tuesday September 1st.




    Q:  How were the devices processed and handled for distribution?

    A:  Every effort was made to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

    • Upon collection devices were stored for 2 weeks without handling per CDC guidelines
    • The devices were then wiped down with an alcohol-based cleaning solution per manufacturer guidelines
    • Devices were prepared by a limited number of staff in a closed room
      • Staff had daily health screenings including temperature checks
      • PPE including masks and full “clean room” gowns were worn at all times
    • The devices were then sterilized a second time and bagged for pickup


    Q:  There’s a little bit of white reside on my laptop?  What is that?  Was it cleaned?

    A:  The alcohol-based cleaning solution leaves a little white residue, not unlike dried soap, on the devices.  Devices were wiped down after final disinfection but some places like in between keys and in the hinges may still have a small bit of residue.  This is normal and the devices were sterilized twice.


    Q:  Can I just show up if I don’t have an appointment?

    A:  Every student needs to register for a time and each student must register individually.  We are moving around several thousand laptops and our way of knowing to bring yours to the front is via the TicketLeap sign up.  Anyone who arrives without a sign-up will be asked to sign up and return during their designated time slot to help the process move along quickly for all students and their families.


    Q:  My student was in 1st grade during the 19-20 school year and will be in 2nd grade in 20-21.  What do I need to do?

    A:  Sign up for a time slot using the grade 2-12 TicketLeap link.  Bring your student’s school-issued iPad and power cable with you during your pickup.  At that time we will take the iPad back and give your student their laptop for the upcoming school year.


    Q:  My student is not transitioning from 1st to 2nd grade, but we still have a laptop or iPad from the school district at home due to participation in a district summer program.  Do I need to sign up for pickup?

    A:  Students that had devices over the summer months (such as Summer Academy, ESY, AP High School Students, and 20-21 first graders) are in a unique situation.  Many of those students have their device already that they will continue to use for the 2021 school year.  In some cases a summer-only device was issued just for that summer program.  In general, if you have a school-issued device already you do not need to pick up another laptop or iPad.  For those students in Summer Programs that do need to turn in your device the staff at HHSD will contact you letting you know that you need to sign up and at that time you should bring back and return your old device.  Communication will generally be handled through email to the email address you provided as part of your student's registration.


    Q:  I am a staff member/new staff hire/change of position/other.  Does this apply to me?

    A:  This process is for student device pickup and staff devices will be distributed based on situation.  More details will be announced closer to the opening of school for staff.


    Q:  I have a question not listed here.  Where can I get assistance?

    A:  Email devicedistribution@hatboro-horsham.org.  Most responses will come via email but in some cases a call may be warranted so please include a best contact phone number with your question.  Please include your students name and their grade level for the 20-21 school year with your question so we can help you as quickly as possible.


    Q:  When will my student have access to their schedule and classes?

    A:  We anticipate the Powerschool Parent Portal opening on September 1, 2020. Student applications such as SeeSaw, Canvas, Everyday Math and Wonders (Connect Ed) may not be available until the 1st day of school, September 8, 2020.
