    Course Description

    Welcome to Broadcast Journalism! The only elective that teaches aspiring broadcast journalists, play-by-play announcers and dj’s what it takes to make quality media presentations that get the audience’s attention!

    Students will get an in-depth and immersive taste of the world of TV and Internet news, radio, internet podcasting and even DJ mixing!

    This course will also strengthen their public speaking skills, learn how to write for different journalistic formats, acquire interviewing skills, and understand how to use camera, recording and TV and Radio Production editing equipment.  The class will study the importance of news in our society, the role of news in our world, and answer questions such as, “what is news?”

    This is a project based course, with an emphasis on in-class participation. So get ready to take a hands-on approach to journalism—you and your classmates will deliver the news in our school to the public!

    - Studio and editing lessons

    - Working behind and in front of the camera, microphones and production computers

    - Interviewing skills & Newsgathering techniques

    - Take on the role of the news producer and other TV jobs
