Fourth Grade:

Mrs. Brzezinski
Mr. Kistenmacher

Wow!!  We have reached the final two months of fourth grade.  Time has flown by this year.   Mrs. Roth and Mr. K are so proud of all the students for the great effort they put into the PSSA’s.   The students all did their best!!!

Math is going strong in room 4.  The students are working on problem solving involving rates.  The current gasoline prices provide an excellent way to study rates.  The students were amazed at what Mr. K and Mrs. Byrnes paid for a gallon of gas years ago!!  The students are starting to realize that money doesn’t grow on trees.  Speaking of trees, the plant and flower unit is progressing nicely.  We have just finished the study of photosynthesis, and our classroom marigolds are in full bloom.  We are continuing our study of Pennsylvania in Social Studies.

Mrs. Roth reports the fourth graders are working hard in Language Arts.  The students are working on their daily edits helping them to learn about capitalization, punctuation, and complete sentences.  Nonfiction books are taking center stage in reading where main ideas and details are being worked on daily.  The skills of sequencing, fluency, and comprehension are also being stressed.  Check out our “Wanted Posters” the next time you stop by.

The students have done very well on their personal narratives, where making the narrative creative was their goal.  Adding details and self editing are taught on a daily basis.

Enjoy the rest of the spring!!
