Happy Spring!

March and April came in like a lion to first graders!  It has been a busy two months.  We have been reading and writing a great deal and we are so proud of how well the children are doing.  Anytime you are visiting the school please keep an eye out for our “Hot Air Balloon” writing.   Our stories take you to some pretty neat places!  We are also continuing to read fiction and non-fiction stories.  Keep up the good work!

We traveled to the Keswick Theatre and saw the Peking Acrobats, which the children absolutely loved!  We also enjoyed Read Across America Day.  The children really enjoyed having the chance to read with the third graders and it was great for us to see their confidence while they were reading their stories.  They also loved the Lorax visiting our classrooms!  Our students also had a great time watching the Dental Show and should now be experts of how to take care of their teeth.

In math the class is learning so many things.  First we have been working a lot with money.  Anytime you have change to be counted, please allow your child to help you.  This is a great way to teach the children this everyday life skill.  We also introduced shapes; we learned new shapes and examined their characteristics.  Please also continue to practice their math facts with them each night!
