Welcome to the official website of the dynamic and historic Crooked Billet Elementary School! Our building is named for the Revolutionary War battle that was fought on the grounds of our school. The Battle of Crooked Billet took place May 1, 1778 when American Patriots under the command of General John Lacey were attacked in the early morning hours by the British Redcoats, led by Lieutenant Colonel Ambercromby. The American troops had stopped on what is now school land to rest during their journey to deliver fresh food to troops at Valley Forge. Each year, students and staff dress in colonial attire and welcome our community partners to join in celebrating our school's rich history.

Crooked Billet Elementary School is a wonderful academic environment, one where students feel safe, appreciated, respected, and accepted in a well maintained facility that is conducive to learning. We have an outstanding staff of committed educators who genuinely care for our children. They are well informed, able to relate their knowledge to the readiness of their students, and dedicated to helping every child achieve. Crooked Billet is fortunate to be surrounded by a dedicated school community. The Crooked Billet Home and School Association (CBHSA) provides a vital link between parents, students, teachers, and the School District of Hatboro-Horsham to help enhance the educational and social experiences for our children. You are your child's first and most essential teacher. Taking time to visit our website is indicative of your commitment to assist in your childs education and school activities. Most important to us are our phenomenal students! Our children are empowered in a climate where they learn to be creative rather than competitive. Crooked Billet students enjoy school because their school supports their growth and development.

As a result of our commitment to excellence and solid teaching practices, Crooked Billet Elemenaty School has attained Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the ninth consecutive year.   We will continue to incorporate proven instruction best practices, new technological resources and place even greater emphasis on global awareness to prepare our students to be well rounded and productive citizens of this local community and beyond.  This is why we are a great school and take pride in our National Blue Ribbon school status.

For the 2011-12 academic year, we will continue with our school-wide theme, "The Billet:  An Academic Construction Zone."  With this theme in place, it will continue to allow each member of the Crooked Billet community (staff, student, parent or local stakeholder) an opportunity to be instrumental in the construction and development of students' dreams and aspirations.  Daily, we will aid students in constructing new learning opportunities that will continue to make them future leaders in this global community.  Their foundations are already secure; we will continue to engage them in ground breaking learning explorations and dream development.

As the principal and instructional leader of Crooked Billet, I am committed to partnering with students, families, and staff to maintain a strong and comprehensive educational program and learning environment which enhances self esteem, provides role models, optimizes each child's potential, develops a lifelong love of learning, builds personal responsibility, and accentuates individual respect in a rapidly changing society.

Educationally yours,
Kári D. Hill, Principal
