Opening the Time Capsule

On Pennypack Pride Day, May 26th, the contents of the
25 year-old time capsule were revealed to the students, staff, and parents of Pennypack Elementary School.

Prior to that "reveal", the time capsule was dug up and retrieved by our custodian, Mr. Ed:

The box was in very poor condition and the contents sustained a great deal of water damage:

Luckily, much of the students' "letters to the future" were salvageable.  Here are a few samples:

Several former Pennypack students whose work was being displayed, came back for the Capsule-Opening Ceremony.  They spoke to the students about what school life was like for them back in 1982.

Pennypack's 2005-2006 Fifth Grade Class presented to the school a new time-capsule.  This time-capsule will be buried during the 2006-2007 school year.  The students are already providing suggestions for what items should be placed in the box, which will be opened 25 years from now!
