Why Our S.T.E.M. Fair went "GREEN"

Student, Faculty & Community Learning
  {Futures Fair}
Who attended Hatboro-Horsham Green Futures Fair?
Teens, young adults, school district faculty and community members. There was be something for everyone.

All 22 school districts in Montgomery County were invited to attend. Four districts (in addition to HH) presented their own green initatives!

What is a Green Futures Fair?

The purpose of the fair was to teach students that there is a world of opportunity in “green” (green professions run through all career pathways—from design to government, to the sciences, etc.) and the opportunity to work in green will grow rapidly in the Delaware Valley over the next decade. "Green" professions have been identified as high priority by Labor and Industry for the five county Philadelphia region. We want our students to know what exciting possibilities will be here in the future.

It was the first fair held by a Montgomery County school district featuring green professionals, government agencies, businesses, technologies, products and information.

The Green Futures Fair also featured green post-seconday programs of study. Students inspired by what they saw learned where and how to prepare for identified Pennsylvania high priority professions.

Our goal was to represent industry and post-secondary green opportunity in the following areas:
1. Renewable Power Generation, (a) wind (b) solar (c) hydro (d) biomass
2. Energy Efficiency (a) standards (b) implementation
3. Renewable transportation fuels (a) transportation sector emissions (b) renewable fuels
